Design the physical product that lives in a dental operatory. The edge device has to disappear into the clinical environment, quiet, cleanable, thermally managed, and unobtrusively mounted where it has line-of-sight to the patient and clinician. You'll own the industrial design, enclosure engineering, thermal solution and manufacturing path.
What you'll do
- Design the enclosure for the edge device, injection-moulded or CNC'd, IP-rated, clinic-friendly
- Develop the thermal management system, passive or active cooling for embedded GPU compute
- Create mounting solutions for operatory integration (arm-mount, ceiling, or bracket-based)
- Work with EE on connector placement, acoustic porting for microphone arrays, and cable routing
- Drive DFM (design for manufacture) and work with contract manufacturers on tooling and prototyping
- Design for cleanability, surfaces, materials and seams that meet infection control standards
- Manage prototyping through 3D printing, CNC and short-run moulding
What we're looking for
- Degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design engineering or product design
- Experience designing enclosures for electronics, at least one product taken through to tooling
- Proficiency in 3D CAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similar
- Understanding of thermal management for compact electronics (CFD simulation experience is a plus)
- Familiarity with plastics, machining and manufacturing processes (injection moulding, CNC, 3D print)
- Experience with or interest in medical-device or clinical-environment design standards
- A portfolio that shows products you've designed, not just parts
