what we do

Prices, made honest.

Optilic Trading Group (OTG) is a proprietary trading and research firm in Sydney. We build systematic strategies that trade our own capital in global markets, with risk enforced in code, and we point the same standard of proof at a second frontier: clinical AI.

systematic trading

What a systematic trading firm actually does.

Most people picture trading as betting on direction. Our work is closer to engineering: find a measurable edge, prove it survives the data, then let a disciplined system act on it faster and more consistently than a human ever could.

01

Price

Every strategy starts with a view of what something is worth right now, built from market data, statistics and models that are re-fit as conditions change. A stale price is a donation; keeping prices honest is the whole game.

02

Position

When our price and the market's price disagree by more than the cost of trading, a system takes a position, sized by rules, never by mood. Signals earn capital in proportion to how well they've survived testing.

03

Protect

Limits live in code, not in promises: position caps, loss cut-offs and kill switches that the desk cannot override in the heat of a session. The system that takes the risk is never the only system watching it.

from idea to live capital

The path every strategy walks.

HYPOTHESIS

An idea, written down

A researcher or trader proposes an edge and, just as importantly, a reason it should exist. If nobody can say why it should persist, it doesn't get compute.

BACKTEST

Survive the past

The idea meets historical data, with realistic costs, slippage and the discipline to avoid fitting noise. Most ideas die here. That's the point.

FORWARD TEST

Survive the present

What survives history runs live without capital, watched against the market it claims to understand. Paper results meet real microstructure.

RISK REVIEW

Survive the questions

Before a strategy touches capital, someone whose job is doubt walks through its assumptions, failure modes and worst days. Limits are set here, in code.

LIVE, MEASURED

Earn its place daily

Live strategies are re-measured continuously. Whatever proves itself gets reused and scaled; whatever decays gets retired without sentiment. The loop is the edge.

Nothing trades live capital without surviving backtest, forward test and hard limits.

Optilic · Markets

Systematic trading

The trading desk is the proving ground for everything the firm believes about measurement: strategies that earn their place daily, execution accounted for in microseconds, and risk that lives in code.

Equities, derivatives and digital assets, traded with our own capital from Sydney, into sessions around the world.

Optilic · Health

Clinical AI, in research

Ambient clinical documentation for dentistry, built so the recording never leaves the room it was made in. Privacy isn't a policy document here, it's an architecture, verified by tests the same way a trading limit is.

In research today. Nothing ships to a clinic until it has survived the same gauntlet a strategy does.

the firm

Young on purpose.

Optilic Trading Group was founded in Sydney in 2026 by engineers who believe the strongest firms are built around one habit: trusting nothing that hasn't survived the data. We started with the hardest version of that promise, clinical software where a privacy failure isn't a bug ticket, it's a breach of trust with a patient in the room.

The trading desk grew from the same instinct. Markets are the most honest scoreboard there is: every model, every assumption and every line of code gets marked to market daily. A firm that can hold that standard in trading can hold it anywhere.

Being young is not something we apologise for. There is no legacy system, no committee between a good idea and a live result, and no seat far from the decisions. The people who join now build the firm the next decade inherits.

What is Optilic Trading Group?

Optilic Trading Group (OTG) is a technology- and research-driven proprietary trading firm founded in Sydney, Australia in 2026. We build systematic strategies that trade the firm's own capital, and we run an assistive-technology research arm building clinical AI for dentistry.

Is Optilic Trading Group related to any other trading firm?

No. OTG is an independent, founder-led Australian company established in 2026, a new firm in its own right, not affiliated with, a subsidiary of, or a misspelling of any other trading firm.

Is Optilic a software product?

No. Optilic is the brand of Optilic Trading Group, an Australian proprietary trading and research firm headquartered in Sydney. It is not related to any similarly named software, optics or licensing product from any other company. The firm's only website is optilic.com.

How big is the firm?

Deliberately small. We're a young, founder-led team at Parkline Place in the Sydney CBD, hiring our first cohort across trading, quantitative research and engineering. Being small is the point: no legacy systems, no committee between a good idea and a live result.

Do you manage outside money?

No. We trade with the firm's own capital only. We have no clients, offer no investment products, and nothing on this site is investment advice.

Are you hiring?

Yes, six open Sydney roles, a paid first-year internship program, and a twelve-week mentorship program that runs online and onsite.
